Find you way to Bocas Del Toro, Panama – You might just want to stay a while
Most people think of the Panama Canal when thing of Panama. Well things have changed in the past decade and Panama is becoming a blossoming tourist destination with much to offer.
One of the most interesting places to visit in Panama is a string of Islands near the Panama, Costa Rica border called Bocas Del Toro. This chain of islands that for years has been off the beaten path is slowly becoming more well known. Laid back living, with late night options bring tourists from Costa Rica over the border to visit Bocas Del Toro.
Buildings built out over the water is the norm in Bocas and you will see more boats then cars. You can find a car taxi on Isla Colon but none of the other islands in Bocas Del Toro even have roads. Lots of Boat taxis are available and can take you to the other islands.
The hostel crowd and surfers looking for a cheap place to rest used to be the norm in Bocas but things are changing. Higher end Bocas Del Toro hotels and Bed and Breakfasts are popping up around Bocas and attracting the adventure tourist who wants a bathroom to themselves, cooked breakfast in the morning and more often then not a beautiful Caribbean water view. The smaller hotels can be found on TripAdvisor.com and read through the reviews to find which one fits your needs the best. On Isla Colon we recommend the top rated Bahia Del Sol if you are looking for a more laid back at home setting over the Caribbean but still have access to the town via a 5 min taxi ride if you feel like pulling a all nighter one of your nights in Bocas.
While in Bocas you enjoy a cold cerveza at Red Frog Beach or head over to Bluff beach and try to conquer a killer wave on the surf board. Fishing, eating in Restaurants built over the water, watching the dolphins play, snorkeling, scuba diving and drinking are all other activities that can and are enjoyed daily in Bocas Del Toro by tourists and locals alike.
